Dr. Dorcas Githaiga is a professional counselling psychologist and is the current Ag. Dean of Students.

She holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Kabarak University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), a Masters in Education ( Guidance and Counselling) from Egerton University and a Bachelor of Education( Arts) from Kenyatta University. She also has various certifications. She is an internationally accredited addiction counsellor, a specialist in family counselling, psychometrics and family therapy.

Dr Githaiga is soft-spoken, patient and motherly, which are vital attributes for her day to day interactions. She notes that her counselling career direction was nurtured in her early working years as a high school teacher. She says that life poses many psycho-social challenges, and the students are not excluded from them.

As a student counsellor, she provides professional counselling and guidance to students experiencing academic, psychological and social challenges. She helps them develop the ability to withstand difficult situations, handle adversity and remain productive. She also gives talks to youths in seminars

Outside work, Dr Githaiga is a wife and mother to two adult sons, a farmer and a researcher. She has published one book and seven articles in peer-reviewed journals. She also extends her services to the community and home church, where she holds seminars on relationships, family and marriage.
