Kabarak University has officially opened its gates to host the 2026 Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) National Play-Offs. Running from February 19th to 21st, this prestigious three-day event has transformed the campus into a centre of athletic excellence, bringing together the finest student-athletes from across Kenya to compete for national honours.
The tournament commenced on Thursday with an opening ceremony marked by high energy and anticipation. In his speech, read by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration & Finance), Prof. Ronald Chepkilot, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat, highlighted Kabarak University’s commitment to holistic development, emphasizing how the discipline of sport complements the rigour of academic life.
"Let the sports begin, and may the best team win," Prof. Chepkilot declared, officially commissioning the games on behalf of Prof. Kiplangat.
The university also extended a traditional Kabarak welcome to the President of KUSF, Mr. Kibet Rono, alongside senior officials from more than 30 participating universities.

The 6th Edition has drawn a massive turnout, with institutions qualifying through rigorous regional conferences. The atmosphere is electric as teams represent the following KUSF regions:
- Nairobi North & Nairobi South Conferences
- Central & Western Conferences
- Rift & Coast Conferences

As the competition progresses toward the closing ceremony on Saturday, February 21st, excitement continues to build. The university invites the entire Kabarak community and sports enthusiasts to support these exceptional athletes as they compete for top positions on the medal table.
