Kabarak University held its 36th Annual Baptismal Service on Sunday, bringing together members of the Kabarak Community for a significant celebration of faith, commitment, and spiritual renewal. The service saw 68 baptismal candidates from different denominations receive baptism, marking an important milestone in their Christian journey.
The baptismal candidates comprised 46 pupils from Moi Primary School-Kabarak and 22 candidates from Kabarak University. The service brought together the wider Kabarak Community in a spirit of unity, as members from different Christian denominations gathered to witness and celebrate the candidates' public declaration of faith.
The service was presided over by the Ag. Provost, Rev. Justus Mutuku, who delivered a message on the significance of baptism, drawing from Romans 6:1-8 and Colossians 2:9-12. In his message, he challenged the baptismal candidates and the congregation to embrace a life that rejects sin and pursues righteousness as they continue to grow in their spiritual walk with Christ.
The Ag. Provost emphasized that baptism represents a profound commitment to a transformed life and encouraged the candidates to remain steadfast in their faith and live out the values of their Christian calling. He was assisted in the baptismal service by Rev. Laban Kittony, Rev. Julius Chemjor, and Pastor Deborah Juma.
The service also featured the celebration of Holy Communion, which was presided over by the Ag. Provost. Reflecting on 1 Corinthians 11:22–30, he highlighted the importance of the Holy Communion as an integral part of the Christian faith and encouraged believers to approach the sacrament with reverence, self-examination, and a renewed commitment to their relationship with Christ. A total of 275 communicants participated in the Holy Communion service.
A special moment of celebration followed as the newly baptised members received Bibles, symbolizing their continued journey of faith and commitment to God's Word. The distribution was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplagat, together with Ms. Elsheba Cheruiyot, Chief Principal, Moi Senior School-Kabarak, and Mr. Nelson Kiptoo, Headteacher, Moi Primary School-Kabarak.
The occasion served as a reminder of the importance of faith, fellowship, and a life dedicated to Christian values, as the newly baptised members begin a new chapter in their spiritual journey.
