Kabarak University has taken another significant step towards strengthening digital teaching and learning through a sensitization seminar on Digital Pedagogy Micro-Credential and Content Modularization for teaching staff.
The one-day seminar was organized by the Directorate of Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL), led by its Director, Prof. Simon Karume, to equip academic staff with knowledge and practical understanding of emerging approaches to digital teaching and the development of quality online learning content.
Our Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kiplangat, officially launched the Digital Pedagogy Micro-Credential Certificate Course and the Content Modularization initiatives, marking a significant step in Kabarak University's ongoing digital learning transformation agenda.
In his address, Prof. Kiplangat emphasized the importance of embracing digital transformation and innovation in teaching and learning as Kabarak University continues to respond to the evolving needs of higher education. He highlighted the need for academic staff to develop the skills required to effectively deliver quality learning through digital platforms, while ensuring that online content remains structured, relevant, and aligned with established academic standards.
The seminar focused on the rollout of the Digital Pedagogy Micro-Credential Certificate Course and the implementation of the University's Content Modularization Policy, both of which are aimed at enhancing the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of online education.
Participants were taken through the University's ODeL Digital Learning and Innovation Strategy, alongside the structure and purpose of the Digital Pedagogy Micro-Credential Certificate Course. The training is designed to strengthen lecturers' capacity to effectively design, facilitate and assess learning in digital environments while promoting learner-centred approaches.
The session provided teaching staff with a clearer understanding of how academic content can be systematically structured into manageable and coherent learning units to support effective online delivery, while highlighting the importance of sound instructional design, quality content and adherence to established academic standards.
The seminar marks an important milestone in Kabarak University's digital transformation agenda, strengthening academic staff capacity while laying the foundation for high-quality, structured and engaging online learning experiences for students.
