The field of public health is of the utmost importance in today's society, where health concerns have become increasingly complex and intertwined with environmental issues. In an effort to address these challenges and explore innovative solutions, the first Public Health International Conference was held from April 2^nd to 5^th, 2023 at the PrideInn Paradise Convention Centre in Mombasa County, Kenya. The conference attracted a diverse group of attendees from 21 counties, including representatives from the Ministry of Health, regulatory bodies in the public health sector, and seven learning institutions.

Mama’s hub, an output of the NRF funded project “eHealth for Universal Maternal Health Coverage in Underserved Counties and Vulnerable Population Groups in Kenya”, was featured on the Google Checkup event on 14^th March 2023. The system, developed using Google’s Open Health Stack, comprises of web and mobile applications for access by community health volunteers, ANC nurses, mothers and their next of kin.

The Kabarak University Center for Health Informatics held a three-day Health Data Science Hackathon from Friday, February 17th to Sunday, February 18th, 2023. The event attracted a total of 60 students, organized into 13 teams, with the aim of developing data products using de-identified and anonymized data from the Child Protection Management System (CPIMS), the Kenya Health Information System (KHIS), and HIV/AIDS data collection.

The workshop on ‘Promoting Meaningful, Beneficial and Informed Participation of African Communities in the Development and Utilization of AI Solutions’ took place on the sidelines of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) 2023 conference on 9^th February.

The inaugural data science and artificial intelligence (DS&AI) conference 2023 came to a close on 3^rd February 2023. The 3 day event attracted 275 unique participants representing 51+ different professionals from over 87 organizations across the world. A total of 26 presentations provided great content for a very lively academic discourse in 7 presentation sessions. 

Data science and artificial intelligence are rapidly growing fields that are changing the way we live and work. To help individuals stay up-to-date on the latest concepts and tools in these areas, the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence group in the School of Science, Engineering and Technology has been holding a series of boot camps on Saturdays starting January 14^th and running through February 11^th.

Over the last ten years, the University has hosted Annual International Research Conferences in line with its mission of providing holistic quality education based on research and practical skills. This year (2022) the University hosted the 12th Annual International Research Conference between the 28th of March – the 19th of October 2022, which participants attended both physically and virtually. 

The inaugural Central Rift Innovation Week was hosted by Kabarak University between the 1^st and 4^th of November 2022. The event whose theme was ‘Commercialization of Research and Innovation featured plenaries, a workshop, and an exhibition all aimed at re-igniting conversations around income generation and employment creation from research and innovation outputs

Kabarak University in line with its core mandate in teaching, conducting research and reaching out to the community evidently dedicated four days in the academic calendar to host the Central Rift Innovation Week to show how seriously we take issues pertaining research and innovation.

The KUPPRAC team through Research Innovation and Outreach (RIO) at Kabarak University presented two papers during the 11^th Annual International Conference at Eldoret National Polytechnic. The conference themed “Competency in Research, Sciences and Innovation for Sustainable Development” attracted participants from Academia, Government, and the International sector to bring together ideas for sustainable development.
