School of Business and Economics

Kabarak University School of Business and Kabarak TVET Institute Collaboration Offers Professional Development Opportunities for Business Students

The School of Business and Economics, through the dean, Dr.Patrick Kibati yesterday discussed with the executive director, of the TVET Institute the collaboration to see the school of Business and Economics students taking up professional courses at the Kabarak University TVET Institute.

Professional courses are one way of ensuring the School of Business and Economics student are competitive in the market now that they will not only leave Kabarak University with a degree certificate but also a professional course in their area of specialization

The dean noted that the current market does not only look at the degree or diploma but also the professionalism in the area and, more so, the skills and knowledge in the area of study

The Executive Director, Dr. Dan Mutai, emphasized empowering school students to take professional courses for their benefit. This will ensure skilled and knowledgeable students in the industry. He also noted that inking the industry with the class is worth doing in the current market, where employers are more focused on what one can put on the table.

The Dean highlighted the advantages of pursuing professional courses and short courses at the TVET Institute:

  • Improved Employability: Professional certifications make graduates stand out in the job market and give them a competitive edge. Employers often prefer candidates with both academic knowledge and practical skills. Graduates with professional courses are more employable and have higher chances of securing job opportunities.
  • Career Progression: Professional courses can accelerate career progression by providing graduates with the expertise and qualifications needed for higher-level positions. They may also open doors to promotions, salary increases, and leadership roles.
  • Networking Opportunities: Professional courses often offer networking opportunities with industry professionals through membership in professional bodies. These connections can lead to valuable mentorships, job referrals, and opportunities not available to graduates without professional certifications.
  • Higher Earning Potential: Graduates with professional certifications often command higher salaries and better compensation packages than those without such qualifications, especially in fields where certifications are highly valued by employers.
