Kabarak University’s Department of Mass Communication, under the School of Music and Media, today held a consultative meeting with a delegation from Meru National Polytechnic to discuss the development of a collaborative Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The meeting, held on 20th November, brought together faculty, departmental leaders, and technical representatives from both institutions in a constructive session focused on strengthening academic and industry-oriented partnerships.
The engagement was characterised by open dialogue and a shared commitment to enhancing the quality of Mass Communication training in Kenya. Both teams expressed strong enthusiasm for establishing a collaboration that integrates practical media skills with emerging trends in journalism, broadcasting, digital storytelling, and communication technologies. The discussion emphasised the increasing need for institutions to work jointly in shaping industry-ready graduates who can thrive in the rapidly evolving media landscape.

The proposed MOU outlines key areas of cooperation, including student exchange opportunities, joint industry attachments, shared access to advanced media studios and production facilities, and collaborative research initiatives in communication and media studies.
The partnership also aims to facilitate co-hosted media workshops, professional masterclasses, and capacity-building trainings that will expand hands-on learning and strengthen professional exposure for students from both institutions.
