Kabarak University is celebrating a major national milestone after emerging as the Winner in the Leadership & Governance Category and the Overall 2nd Runners Up Employer in Kenya at the 2025 Employer of the Year Awards (EYA). These awards, presented by the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE), highlight organisations that demonstrate exemplary leadership, strong people management practices, and a healthy, empowering workplace culture.
At the forefront of this celebration is Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, the Vice-Chancellor, whose exemplary leadership continues to steer the University toward sustained excellence. Prof. Kiplangat proudly represented Kabarak University at the awards ceremony held on 7th November 2025 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi, where he received the honours on behalf of the institution. He was accompanied by members of the University Management Board and the Director, Directorate of Quality Assurance & Institutional Planning.
God’s faithfulness has been evident throughout this year. Just two weeks earlier, Kabarak University was crowned the Company of the Year (Large Enterprises) Overall Winner and Service of the Year Winner, the highest recognitions by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS). These awards acknowledged the University’s consistent commitment to strategic excellence, strong governance, and continuous improvement across all operations.

Under the stewardship of Prof. Kiplangat, the University continues to stand out as an institution defined by vision, integrity, and excellence.
The Employer of the Year Awards, spearheaded by the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE), is a premier national platform dedicated to recognising organisations that excel in people management and workplace excellence. Now in its 5th edition, the programme aims to promote responsible industrial relations, ethical business conduct, and robust human capital development.
This year’s awards featured 51 shortlisted organisations, evaluated across eight categories:
- Leadership & Governance
- Corporate Governance
- Innovation & Productivity
- Responsible Business Conduct
- Inclusiveness & Diversity
- Workplace Environment
- Learning & Development
- Human Resource Practice & Industrial Relations
The awards champion employers who have moved beyond minimum compliance and embraced true commitment to their people and organisational mission.

Notably, this was Kabarak University’s first participation in the Employer of the Year Awards. Despite being newcomers, the University stood tall against some of Kenya’s biggest and most established brands, including Absa Bank Kenya, KenGen, Liberty Life Insurance, Jubilee Insurance, AAR Insurance, Old Mutual, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, Kenya Reinsurance Corporation, Strathmore University, Kenya Seed Company Ltd, and global organisations such as WWF – World Wildlife Fund, VSO International, and DHL Global.
Competing alongside such industry leaders, and emerging as Winner in Leadership & Governance and Overall 2nd Runners Up Employer in Kenya, is a truly a reflection to the strength, discipline, and excellence embedded in Kabarak University’s culture.
This year’s results placed Kabarak University in the highest tier of exemplary employers:
- Winner: CPF Financial Services
- 1st Runners Up: Coca-Cola Beverages – Africa
- 2nd Runners Up: Kabarak University
This recognition affirms the University’s solid workforce culture, strong operational performance, and dedication to the holistic well-being of its staff, all anchored in Christian values.
While both awards are significant, the Leadership & Governance win is especially meaningful. This category honours institutions that demonstrate visionary leadership, effective governance structures, strategic decision-making, and transformative management practices.
For Kabarak University, this award is a direct reflection of the outstanding leadership of Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat. His guidance has strengthened the University’s systems, enhanced institutional performance, and inspired a culture of discipline, excellence, and accountability. His hands-on approach to leadership, strategic foresight, and faith have been instrumental in positioning Kabarak as a national leader in governance and transformation.

This accomplishment is also supported by the dedication of the University’s leadership organs, including the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor, Hon. Gideon Moi, the Governing Council, University Management Board, University Senate and the Students Council (KUSO). Together, they continue to uphold the strong governance values that make Kabarak University a distinguished and forward-thinking institution.
The Employer of the Year Awards celebrate organisations that model ethical leadership and responsible governance, a space where Kabarak University continues to excel. These achievements reflect the commitment of staff, the vision of leadership, and the grace of God. Under the inspiring leadership of Prof. Kiplangat, the University continues to set new benchmarks for excellence, integrity, and transformational leadership in Kenya.
This inspiring story will be featured in the Business Daily on 14th November 2025. We encourage the Kabarak community, partners, alumni, and friends to look out for this highlight and share in our celebration.
To God be the Glory.
