Kabarak University has taken another significant step in promoting innovation and student empowerment with the official launch of the Visionary Innovators Prodigies (VIPs), an initiative designed to nurture creativity, leadership, and problem-solving among future educators.
The inaugural launch, held on Monday, 6th July 2026, at the School of Education Resource Room, brought together students and faculty members to mark the beginning of a transformative programme that seeks to cultivate a new generation of innovators equipped to address contemporary educational and societal challenges.
Leading the launch, the Dean of the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Gladys Kiptiony, delivered an inspiring session on 21st-Century Skills, emphasizing the importance of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and innovation in shaping the future of education. She challenged students to embrace these competencies as essential tools for developing practical solutions that respond to the evolving needs of society.
Students were encouraged to view themselves not simply as learners, but as visionary leaders and changemakers with the potential to transform communities through innovation. The initiative aims to develop graduates who are academically accomplished, research-oriented, entrepreneurial, and committed to creating sustainable solutions that positively impact Kenya and the African continent.
The Visionary Innovators Prodigies initiative aligns with the school's aspiration to become a leading hub for student innovation by nurturing ideas that address real-world educational challenges. Guided by the core values of Innovation, Integrity, Collaboration, Excellence, and Impact, the programme seeks to inspire students to translate knowledge into practical, scalable solutions that improve lives and advance educational excellence.
Addressing the inaugural cohort, students were challenged to take full advantage of the opportunities presented through the programme by cultivating curiosity, embracing bold ideas, and pursuing excellence in research and innovation. They were reminded that every transformative innovation begins with a single courageous idea and that their collective efforts have the power to shape the future of education while creating meaningful change within their communities.
The launch of the Visionary Innovators Prodigies marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences as it continues to strengthen a culture of innovation, leadership, and academic excellence.
