Kabarak University is once again privileged to serve as a host for the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) Licensure Examinations. This year’s sitting carries special meaning as it coincides with International Nurses Day, a moment when the world pauses to recognize the vital role nurses play in safeguarding lives and strengthening health systems.
This year, the University has welcomed a record number of over 550 candidates drawn from across the country. The candidates come from both the Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) programmes. Their presence at Kabarak for this important professional milestone reflects the confidence placed in the University’s facilities, organization, and ability to manage national examinations with precision and integrity.
The examinations began on Tuesday and are being conducted in key venues across the campus, including K-Law 5 and the halls at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. The assessments will continue until Friday, with a calm and focused atmosphere evident throughout the University.
Taking place alongside International Nurses Day and under the 2026 theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” this moment goes beyond routine examinations. It quietly captures the University’s long-standing role in preparing nurses who are ready not just in theory, but in real practice. In a well-organized and supportive setting, candidates are given a fair chance to show what they know, how they think, and how prepared they are to serve in demanding healthcare environments.
The smooth running of this large-scale exercise points to the careful coordination led by Dr. Doris Kibiwot. Her planning and attention to detail have made it possible for the University to comfortably accommodate the increased number of candidates, while still maintaining the strict standards set by the Nursing Council of Kenya. Throughout the process, there has been a steady sense of order and cooperation between the examination teams and candidates, reflecting the discipline and quality that continue to define Kabarak University.
As the examinations progress toward their conclusion on Friday, the University remains proud of its role in shaping competent, ethical, and skilled nursing professionals who will go on to serve communities across Kenya and beyond.
