Kabarak University proudly took part in the official launch of the 10th Edition Huawei ICT Competition 2025-2026, held at Serena Hotel, Nairobi, on 14th August 2025. Representing Vice-Chancellor Prof. Henry Kiplangat, Prof. Peter Rugiri (Dean, School of Science, Engineering, and Technology) joined government leaders, academia, and industry experts in celebrating this milestone.
The Huawei ICT Competition, a flagship global talent initiative, marks 10 years of advancing skills in cloud computing, AI, networking, and emerging technologies. With over 2,000 institutions from more than 100 countries participating, it remains a premier platform for students to gain globally recognized certifications and compete on the world stage.
Chief Guest Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, Speaker of the National Assembly, applauded Kenyan students’ stellar performance in the last cycle, winning two 1st Place and three 3rd Place awards globally.
Prof. Rugiri was accompanied by Kabarak University’s newly appointed Huawei Campus Ambassadors—Ivy Wambui and Allan (IT students, School of Science, Engineering, and Technology). These ambassadors will spearhead ICT awareness, industry engagement, and certification opportunities on campus.
Kabarak University’s inclusion as a nominated institution reaffirms its leadership in ICT education. This partnership with Huawei is set to empower students with future-ready skills, aligning with the university’s mission to nurture innovative, industry-relevant talent.
