A week-long professional training program focused on strengthening the implementation of Competency-Based Education (CBE) has officially commenced at Kabarak University. Organized by the Directorate of Excellence in Learning and Teaching (DELT), the initiative brings together academic staff from the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology (SSET) to enhance teaching effectiveness and align curricula with modern educational standards.

The training, which began on Monday, 23rd March 2026, will run throughout the week until Friday, 27th March 2026. It brings together academic staff in a focused and collaborative environment designed to enhance teaching practices and align academic programs with evolving educational standards.

The program is structured to build a strong foundation in Competency-Based Education, emphasizing a shift from traditional teaching approaches to a more learner-centred model that prioritizes practical skills, measurable outcomes, and real-world application. Participants are being guided on how to integrate competencies, values, and structured learning outcomes into their course design and delivery.

Over the course of the week, staff will engage in a series of interactive sessions and hands-on activities aimed at redesigning and converting existing curricula into competency-based formats. The training also provides an opportunity for participants to collaborate, share insights, and refine their approaches to teaching and assessment.
