A new semester began at Kabarak University with worship, reflection and a simple reminder: no one has to walk the journey alone.

The first Wednesday Chapel Service of the September-December 2026 semester brought together students, staff and faculty, including the new first-year students who have just joined the University.

The Spiritual and Student Affairs Department welcomed the freshmen and encouraged them to take part in the spiritual life of the University as they settle into their new environment.

The sermon, delivered by Rev. Justus Mutuku, was drawn from Psalm 23:1-6 under the theme, “Don’t Navigate Alone: The Shepherd Is with You.”

Speaking to the uncertainty that often comes with a new beginning, Rev. Mutuku asked the congregation to look beyond “What lies ahead?” and consider another question: “Who will walk with me?”

For him, Psalm 23 provides the answer: “The LORD is my Shepherd.”

He reflected on the different seasons people go through, from moments of peace and abundance to crossroads, battles and valleys. He pointed to God's guidance, protection and provision as sources of confidence through each season.

He encouraged the congregation to carry one message throughout the semester: “The LORD is my Shepherd.” Students were urged to listen, trust and follow the Shepherd as they navigate their academic and personal journeys.

Addressing the congregation, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat welcomed the first-year students to Kabarak University and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities ahead while taking responsibility for their new chapter.

The service gave the semester a meaningful start, bringing the Kabarak community together and reminding everyone that whatever the new semester brings, we do not have to navigate it alone.
