Kabarak University Community Comes Together for Annual Blood Donation Drive

The spirit of compassion and service is taking centre stage at Kabarak University as students and staff join the annual blood donation drive on 27 and 28 October 2026.

Organised by the Kabarak University Kenya Red Cross Society, the two-day initiative brings together students, staff, healthcare providers, government agencies and community partners in a shared effort to support lifesaving healthcare services through voluntary blood donation.

The drive is being undertaken in partnership with the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre, Nakuru; Damu Ke; the Ministry of Health; the County Government of Nakuru; and Dandelion Africa. Their collaboration highlights the importance of collective action in addressing healthcare needs and strengthening a culture of voluntary blood donation.

Beyond the act of donating, the initiative reflects the values that shape the Kabarak University experience. Compassion, integrity, service and social responsibility are expressed not only through words, but also through practical actions that respond to the needs of society. By participating in the drive, students and staff are putting these values into practice and demonstrating that service begins with a willingness to help others.

The involvement of the university’s schools, student clubs and external partners further demonstrates the impact of collaboration. When institutions of learning work alongside healthcare professionals, government agencies and community organisations, their combined efforts can strengthen awareness, encourage volunteerism and create a lasting culture of service.

As the annual blood donation drive continues, the Kabarak University community is demonstrating that education extends beyond the classroom. It is also about nurturing responsible citizens who recognise the needs of others and are willing to contribute to the well-being of society.
