AYLF Takes on Menengai: A Day of Adventure and Discovery

On Saturday, 27th July 2024, Kabarak University AYLF chapter members embarked on a hiking expedition. Led by Christopher Nyakundi, the current chapter coordinator, and accompanied by Ms. Veronicah Kombich, 38 club members set off on this adventure. Despite the chilly morning, the students were brimming with enthusiasm for the day ahead.

The day commenced with a nature walk through the expansive forest. This provided an opportunity for relaxation, mindfulness, and environmental exploration. The group then ventured into the historical Menengai caves, where they were captivated by the natural beauty. The caves hold sacred significance for many, as evidenced by the presence of individuals engaged in prayer.

Following the cave exploration, the team undertook a challenging trek to the viewpoint. This arduous journey tested the endurance of participants, but their collective spirit ensured everyone reached the summit. The panoramic view from the top was truly breathtaking.

As the day drew to a close, the physical exertion was overshadowed by the thrill of the adventure. While sore muscles were a common complaint, the shared experiences and laughter created lasting memories. As Beau Taplin wisely observed, "Sunsets are proofs that endings can often be beautiful, too."
