The atmosphere at Kenyatta University, Parklands Campus, was charged with debate, diplomacy and the exchange of ideas on Saturday, 26 September, as students gathered for a mock Model United Nations debate. Among them was the Kabarak University KMUN Chapter, which took part in the exercise and delivered a strong performance.

A highlight of the day came when Mick Mugo, a delegate from the Kabarak University KMUN Chapter, was recognised as the Most Diplomatic Delegate in the UNHCR Committee. Mugo represented the United Mexican States (Mexico) during the simulation, taking part in discussions and negotiations around issues considered by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees committee.

The recognition reflects the skills that Model United Nations activities are designed to develop, including diplomacy, negotiation, public speaking, research, and the ability to engage with complex global issues from different perspectives.

Mugo's award was also a proud moment for the Kabarak University team, which continues to participate in KMUN activities and use the platform to sharpen students' understanding of international relations and multilateral diplomacy.

The chapter is led by its Patron, Pr. Esther Mwende Kapsir, who has continued to guide and support the students in their participation in KMUN activities. The team was also appreciated for its continued involvement in the mock debate and its contribution to the wider KMUN programme.

The University appreciates the Dean of Students and the University Management for supporting the Kabarak University KMUN Chapter and creating opportunities for students to participate in activities that complement classroom learning.
