Centre for Multiple Systems of Justice (CMSJ)

“Advancing access to justice through a multi-door approach to dispute resolution.”

"Kukuza upatikanaji wa haki kupitia mbinu mbalimbali za utatuzi wa migogoro.”

The Centre for Multiple Systems of Justice (CMSJ) is a dynamic department within the Kabarak University School of Law dedicated to advancing Alternative Justice Systems (AJS). Founded in June 2024 following the 3rd Annual AJS Conference, the Centre serves as a premier hub for mediation and a leading promoter of Traditional Dispute Resolution Mechanisms (TDRMs).

Drawing inspiration from the visionary aims of the National AJS Policy and Article 159(2)(c) of the Constitution of Kenya, CMSJ is committed to revolutionizing traditional approaches to dispute resolution. Through innovative research, education, and community engagement, we strive to foster a culture of collaborative problem-solving, bridging the gap between formal legal systems and community-based justice to contribute to a more just and equitable society.
