We are bursting with pride to shine a spotlight on one of our very own, Cynthia Wayua. A 2023 graduate from the School of Pharmacy, Cynthia is the perfect example of how Kabarak University students excel not just in their academics, but in their passions too.
Many of you remember Cynthia not just for her dedication to her pharmacy studies, but for her strategic mind. During her time here, she was a trailblazer who pioneered the game of chess at Kabarak University, leaving a legacy that continues to challenge and inspire students today.
It is with great joy that we share her latest milestone. The African Chess Confederation has officially appointed Cynthia as a Sector Arbiter for the prestigious 2025 Africa Youth Chess Championship.
This incredible opportunity will see her traveling to Harare, Zimbabwe, where she will officiate from December 6th to December 14th, 2025.
From Kabarak to Africa, this appointment is no small feat. It recognizes her expertise and standing in the international chess community, where she is recognized as an International Arbiter (IA). The Confederation serves as the governing body for chess across the continent, and having a Kabarak alumna selected for such a critical role is a testament to her hard work and integrity.
As she prepares to ensure fair play among Africa's brightest young minds in Zimbabwe, we want to send her our warmest congratulations. Cynthia, thank you for flying the Kabarak flag high and for showing us that with passion and strategy, every move counts!
Congratulations, Cynthia! We are cheering for you!
