Department of Nursing
The School of Medicine & Health Sciences offers a four-year Bachelor of Nursing program at the Main Campus. The program, founded on Christian values equips the students with Godly virtues and further challenges them to become exceptionally compassionate, dedicated and competent nurses who impact and transform the world and health care in general.
The Nursing profession plays a vital role in the provision of health care services in this country. Hence, nursing education at undergraduate and postgraduate level is of paramount importance to prepare the nurses to be competent and be able to take up responsibilities at all levels ranging from County, National and International.
Some of the core modules offered in our nursing programme include Medical-Surgical Nursing, Community Health, Midwifery, pediatric nursing, Mental-health and psychiatric, nursing leadership and management, nursing education and research.
Students also have an opportunity to explore specialized units of nursing during their last academic year: Oncology nursing, forensic nursing, palliative nursing, gender and health, ethical & legal issues in nursing, entrepreneurship, environmental and occupational health.
The students are also attached to the communities and teaching institutions to gain community and teaching experiences respectively. Further, expected to prepare a dissertation and elective project in an area that interests them.
Admission Requirements for Bachelor of Science in Nursing
All applicants for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing must satisfy the following requirements:
A mean grade of at least C+ ( plus) in K.C.S.E. with a minimum of C+ in the following subjects:
- English OR Kiswahili
- Mathematics OR Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
