Kabarak University proudly celebrates the academic milestone of Dr. Phyllis Waruguru from the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, following her successful completion of a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Human Nutrition.
Dr. Waruguru’s doctoral research focused on the role of Moringa oleifera supplementation in suppressing HIV viral load. Her study contributes valuable scientific evidence to the expanding field of nutrition and HIV care and highlights the potential of food based, locally available nutritional interventions in improving health outcomes, particularly among vulnerable populations.
Beyond the academic achievement of earning a PhD, Dr. Waruguru reflects on her journey through two powerful lessons. She notes that both a PhD and life itself demand patience, resilience, and consistency. She also emphasizes that education, when not grounded in humility, risks losing its true meaning. Her story serves as a reminder that knowledge is most impactful when paired with character, service, and grace.
In addition to her academic role, Dr. Waruguru serves as the Coordinator of Outreach and Linkages at the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Outreach, where she continues to advance community engagement, partnerships, and the translation of research into societal impact.
Kabarak University congratulates Dr. Phyllis Waruguru on this remarkable achievement and celebrates her continued contributions to scholarship, service, and the advancement of health and nutrition research.
