Kabarak University proudly hosted the ENGAGE Project High School Tier 1 Program Launch, marking the beginning of an exciting journey for more than 20 high school girls who have officially commenced their data science and AI training under this transformative initiative. The event was held concurrently across all ENGAGE partner institutions as part of the program’s national and regional commitment to nurturing the next generation of young women in STEM.
The ENGAGE Program, implemented in partnership with leading institutions such as the University of Nairobi and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), seeks to empower young women from underserved communities with hands-on skills in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Public Health Innovation. The Tier 1 launch represents the foundational stage of the program, designed to introduce high school learners to critical digital competencies, problem-solving, and data-driven thinking.

The ceremony at Kabarak University was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, who was accompanied by members of the university management and faculty. In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor encouraged the students to embrace the opportunity with curiosity, discipline and confidence, noting that skills in data science and AI will play a transformative role in shaping the future of health, education, governance and innovation.
The launch marks a significant step in advancing digital inclusion and building a pipeline of skilled, empowered young women ready to thrive in a technology-driven world. Kabarak University remains honoured to be a key partner in the ENGAGE Project and continues to champion innovation, excellence and equal opportunity through education.
