Kabarak University today hosted the opening session of the ISO 9001:2015 first surveillance audit conducted by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) at the Nakuru City Campus. The exercise is part of the University’s ongoing effort to strengthen its quality systems and improve how services are delivered across all areas.
The audit runs from 3rd to 5th June 2026 and is meant to assess how well the University continues to meet the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements. It also looks at how these systems are working in practice and where further improvement can be made.
The opening session brought together the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat, members of the University Management, process owners, sectional heads, and the KEBS audit team led by Mr Isaac Muriithi, Lead Auditor, alongside Mr Davis Kimutai.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor noted the importance of maintaining clear and reliable systems that support teaching, learning, research, administration, and service to students and other stakeholders. He added that regular audits help ensure that these systems remain functional, well-coordinated, and responsive to institutional needs.
The audit focuses on how well the different parts of the University’s quality system work together. This includes documentation practices, departmental objectives, risk management, internal audit outcomes, corrective actions, customer feedback handling, compliance with legal requirements, and ongoing improvement efforts.

The audit will continue at the Main Campus on 4th and 5th June 2026, where KEBS will review additional academic and administrative processes.
Kabarak University continues to place emphasis on maintaining strong systems that support accountability, consistency, and quality in service delivery across all areas of operation.
