Kabarak University is pleased to share a transformative opportunity under the ENGAGE Project, implemented in partnership with the University of Nairobi and the University of California, San Francisco, alongside other collaborating universities across Kenya.
The ENGAGE Project is inviting applications for a fully sponsored Data Science & Artificial Intelligence training programme targeting young women across three tiers:
- Tier 1 – Form 3 Girls (Public Secondary Schools)
- Tier 2 – Final Year STEM Diploma / TVET Students
- Tier 3 – Final Year STEM Undergraduate Students
The programme is approved by the Ministry of Education and is designed to build practical skills in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning, with a strong focus on addressing real-world public health challenges.
Tier 2 & Tier 3 Training (August 2026 Intake)
Training Period: 3rd August – 28th August 2026
Followed by a 6-week internship at a community health facility.
What Tier 2 & 3 Training Entails
Participants will:
- Receive a fully funded 20-day residential training
- Gain hands-on skills in Data Science, AI, and Machine Learning
- Learn to code and deploy models
- Apply their knowledge in real-world healthcare settings during a structured internship
- Engage with mentors and industry professionals
Tier 2 Eligibility (Diploma / TVET)
- Female students in the final year of a STEM Diploma/TVET programme
- Demonstrated strong aptitude in Mathematics
- Applicants from underserved or marginalized communities are encouraged to apply
Tier 3 Eligibility (Undergraduate)
- Female students in the final year of a STEM Undergraduate Degree programme
- Demonstrated strong aptitude in Mathematics
- Applicants from underserved or marginalized communities are encouraged to apply
Tier 1 Training (November/December 2026 Intake)
What Tier 1 Training Entails
Tier 1 is designed to inspire Form 3 girls in public secondary schools with a passion for Mathematics to explore careers in Data Science and AI.
Participants will receive:
- A fully funded 10-day residential training
- Foundational exposure to coding and computational thinking
- Hands-on learning experiences
- Educational learning trips
- Mentorship and career guidance in STEM pathways
Tier 1 Eligibility
- Form 3 girls in public secondary schools
- Strong aptitude in Mathematics
- Applicants from underserved or marginalized communities are encouraged to apply
