Kabarak University’s School of Law has once again solidified its reputation as a powerhouse of legal excellence. On Thursday, January 15, 2026, our talented team of aspiring advocates represented the university with distinction at the inaugural Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) National Moot Court Competition.
Facing off in the quarter-finals and beyond, the Kabarak team demonstrated an exceptional grasp of complex data protection and privacy laws. Their mastery of legal reasoning and oral advocacy was put to the test before a distinguished bench, including Judges Mercy Mutindi and Wycliffe Jaketch.
The highlight of the competition came during the closing ceremony when Kabarak University was officially recognized for its individual brilliance. We are proud to announce that the Best Oralist Award was presented to our very own Jeremy Gacheru. The award was handed over by Judge Bridgitte Ndong, who commended Jeremy for his extraordinary eloquence, poise, and ability to articulate intricate legal principles with precision.

The ODPC lauded the Kabarak team for their "passion, preparation, and excellence," noting that their depth of reasoning truly set them apart in the field of privacy law.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Jeremy Gacheru and the entire mooting team for flying the Kabarak flag high.
As we celebrate this achievement, we also thank the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner for organizing a successful inaugural tournament that provides a vital platform for the next generation of legal professionals.
Going Beyond the Horizon!
